Full body skin check by expert skin doctors
Medical skin treatments
Catch skin cancer before it gets dangerous
Our expert doctors at Geelong Veins Skin & Laser complete full body skin checks to detect skin cancers and early pre cancerous skin changes.
What does a skin check involve?
Your doctor will ask about personal and family skin cancer history and medical history. You will need to strip down to underwear and lie on a bed with a light paper covering you. The doctor will work around your body, checking all skin lesions of concern with a dermatoscope and taking digital pictures that are saved directly into your medical file where necessary. If any abnormal lesions are found, the doctor will explain the required treatment from our range of options.
Who should have a skin check?
Skin checks are recommended yearly for patients with any of the following:
- Outdoor workers or people who have outdoor hobbies
- Those with a personal or family history of skin cancer
- Type I and II skin types (fair skin, blonde / red or light brown hair)
- People with a history of frequent sunburns or solarium use
- Patients with a high mole count (more than 20 moles / freckles on the arms, more than 100 moles / freckles all over)
