SkinTyte™ – Skin Tightening Treatment
SkinTyte™ skin tightening treatment is a non invasive treatment that utilises infrared light to tighten skin that has become saggy, crepey, wrinkly or droopy due to the effects of ageing, pregnancy, weight loss, genetics or environmental factors. SkinTyte is a treatment that can improve the appearance of the skin of the neck, abdomen, jowls, around the eyes, upper arms and back of the hands.
What is SkinTyte skin tightening treatment?
The SkinTyte procedure utilizes advanced infrared light technology, and patient tailored filters to deeply heat dermal collagen (in the deep layer of the skin) while continuously protecting the epidermis (surface layer of the skin) with sapphire contact cooling for safety and patient comfort. With no need for a topical anaesthetic, the energy is delivered in rapid, gentle pulses to promote contraction and partial coagulation of the collagen, initiating the body’s natural healing process, leading to the appearance of firmer skin tissue.
What areas can be treated with SkinTyte?
The most common area is the anterior (front) portion of the neck. This is closely followed in popularity by the jowls/cheeks and the area around the eyes. The abdomen is frequently treated post pregnancy or weight loss. Other areas that can benefit include the upper arms, back of the hands, knees and décolletage.
Who performs the treatment at GVSL?
SkinTyte skin tightening treatments are performed at GVSL by our dermal therapist or beauty therapist. Our therapists have in depth knowledge of all aspects of skin and light based therapies.
What are the expected outcomes of a SkinTyte skin tightening treatment?
SkinTyte infra red technology causes deep dermal collagen to tighten and contract, causing a skin tightening and plumping effect. Skin will be visibly and palpably smoother and tighter. The effects of SkinTyte are seen over time, with full results taking up to 4 months. Improvements become more noticeable after the 3rd and 4th treatment. SkinTyte does not give the same results as a surgical necklift or facelift or abdominoplasty. If your skin would benefit from a surgical correction rather than SkinTyte this will be discussed at your initial consultation and referral can be made to a plastic surgeon.
How many sessions are required?
We recommend 4 sessions of SkinTyte spaced 3-4 weeks apart for ideal results. Patients can elect to have a series of up to 6 treatments. For maintaining the results a repeat treatment yearly is recommended.
Are there any risks or side effects?
The side effects of the SkinTyte procedure are mild. They may include short-term discomfort during the actual treatment process and slight redness immediately following treatment. In most cases, the redness lasts less than 24 hours, however rarely it may last up to 3 days. SkinTyte infrared light affects only the layers of skin, so does not penetrate deep enough to affect important structures such as nerves, glands or blood vessels.
How does it feel to have the treatment?
A SkinTyte skin tightening treatment involves cleansing of the skin, application of protective eye goggles/glasses, application of clear conducting gel followed by the SkinTyte handpiece gently sweeping across the skin in a massage like movement that generates an increasing intensity of heat. The feeling of the treatment is similar to a hot stone massage. At the endpoint of each area of treatment the skin may feel intensely hot. After the treatment is completed a post laser gel will be applied.
Can I resume normal activities immediately after SkinTyte?
You can immediately go back to normal activities after a SkinTyte skin tightening treatment. If the treatment is on the face then makeup can be applied. You should avoid activities that cause excessive heating of the skin for 24 hours including spas/ saunas / sweaty exercise / sun exposure. Sunblock and attention to sunsmart choices are recommended for 4 weeks post treatment. If the hands are treated it is advised to avoid wet, dirty or irritative substance contact for 48 hours after treatment, gloves may be worn.
Are there any reasons this treatment would be unsuitable for certain people?
SkinTyte treatments should be avoided if you are currently talking roaccutane. Blood thinners are not a contraindication but can lead to a risk of mild bruising post treatment. If you suffer from epilepsy triggered by flashing lights it is best to avoid SkinTyte. During pregnancy SkinTyte is not recommended. Patients with excess adipose (fat) without skin laxity will not benefit from SkinTyte and should consider alternative treatments.
What is the cost of a SkinTyte skin tightening treatment?
The cost of SkinTyte depends on the body area treated. Prices start from $359 per treatment.
How long do SkinTyte results last?
The results of a SkinTyte skin tightening treatment will be seen long term. However the effects of ageing, environmental factors such as sun exposure and smoking, and genetics will continue to impact the skin over time, so we recommend regular maintenance treatments. Your dermal therapist can create a personalised plan to maintain your skin results. The best outcomes can be achieved by combining SkinTyte treatments with regular Forever Young BBL maintenance treatments.
Can other treatments be performed in the same session?
Your dermal therapist can discuss with you whether SkinTyte can be combined with other treatments on the same day.
