Skin tags are small, soft, flesh coloured skin growths which are harmless and non-malignant. They are mostly found on the eyelids, neck, armpits, groin and under the breast. For some people these skin tags can be a source of annoyance and embarrassment. The good news is that here at Geelong Veins, Skin and Laser we have the ability to safely remove these pesky skins tags quickly and safely without the need to have a doctor cut them off.

Our answer is the Dermapen Cryo.

This device allows our dermal therapist to safely remove these lesions. The treatment is so quick that it can be done in your lunch break. The Dermapen Cryo uses a very precise jet of ultra cold high pressure liquified nitrous oxide to destroy benign lesions within seconds. As this treatment is very targeted the surrounding tissue remains untouched and intact compared to traditional cryotherapy treatments. This precise target also means that it is safe for use not only on the body, but on the face even near the eyes. The Dermapen Cryo can be used for lesions up to 5mm in depth and up to 10mm in diameter. It can also be used to treat warts and age spots, however we recommend a full skin check prior to any skin lesions being treated.

Does it hurt?

It can be described as a cold sensation. As the treatment is so quick, sometimes it is only sprayed on the lesions for 10 seconds at a time, making the treatment process very tolerable.

Side effects?

You would expect a blister formation which is normal and a vital part of the removal and healing process. There may even be some minor scabbing, all of which should clear within two weeks.

Risks?

The risks are minimal. Due to the high precision tip the risk of hypopigmentation (which can occur with other cryotherpy techniques) is greatly reduced as only the lesion is targeted not the surrounding tissue.

How long does the treatment take?

The size of the skin tags will determine how long the Dermapen Cryo is sprayed onto each area. Each lesion will be treated for between 5 – 15 seconds, with a second treatment 30 seconds later. The full consultation will take around 15 minutes.

How many treatments will I require?

Most lesions will require only one treatment. However larger lesions may require follow up treatments 2-3 weeks later.

When will I see results?

You will see results 2 weeks after treatment.

How much does it cost?

We advise to book in with our Dermal Therapists for a free initial consultation as prices can vary depending on the size and number of lesions. The price range is $45 – $95.
