Laser treatments

Zap away red spots or capillaries

We have several vascular lasers that we can match to your skin condition at GVSL. These lasers have wavelengths that are attracted to red or purple blood inside the vessels/skin spot, selectively fading the target lesion.

What conditions can be treated with vascular laser?

  • Rosacea
  • Broken capillaries on cheeks, around the nose, chin, back, chest
  • Angiomas / cherry angiomas / campbell de morgan spots
  • Venous lakes (blue/purple spots on lips or ears)
  • Red birthmarks
  • Red / pink scars

Who is it for?

Anyone wanting to remove red spots, blotches or capillaries or treat rosacea.

Preparing for your appointment

If you are a new patient it is best to start with a skin analysis appointment with one of our dermal clinicians to assess your vascular skin issue and discuss the treatment required.

Post-treatment guidelines

Some vascular conditions when treated with laser will have some swelling / inflammation post treatment. Your dermal clinician will discuss whether to expect this and how to manage it. Some smaller vascular issues disappear without side effects.

Everything you need to know
Does vascular laser hurt?

Vascular laser can feel like a sharp flicking or heat sensation on the skin. We can use numbing creams or cooling plates to assist with comfort.

Do you treat children with vascular laser?

Yes, our doctors treat small spider angiomas and small birthmarks on children.

How many sessions are needed?

Vascular lesions will need between 1 and 4 sessions depending on the number / extent.

Will the red spots / capillaries return?

Usually the particular capillary / spot will not return but if you are prone to getting that type of lesion more may appear elsewhere.

How do you treat rosacea?

We have multiple different treatments for rosacea and will match the treatment/s to your skin’s needs. These include:

  • BBL and laser light
  • Skincare products that reduce redness and acne / pustules
  • Script oral and topical medications
