Wedding season is fast approaching and we often get brides coming in wanting advice on how to prepare their skin for their big day. So the girls here at Geelong Veins, Skin and Laser have put together a step by step planner for you to assist in getting your wedding skin care plan sorted in time for your big day.
It is never too late to start looking after your skin, so don’t stress if your big day is fast approaching and you have not begun your preparation. Although we advise that you start a wedding skin care program approximately 12 months in advance.
12 Month Wedding Skin Care Guide
We’ve listed what types of treatments and activities you can undertake to achieve the best possible skin for your wedding.
12 months prior
If facial lines and wrinkles are a major concern for you we suggest beginning your ‘smoothing’ regime 12 months out by having a consultation with our Cosmetic Nurse Injector – Kenlyn.
It can take up to 12 months to smooth out deeper or resting lines so beginning your wrinkle and shaping treatments now are the perfect place to start.
You can book in for an obligation & cost free full facial analysis with our Cosmetic nurse for individualised advice.
8-10 months prior
This is the perfect time to begin your laser hair removal to ensure you are hair free for the big day and your honeymoon. Most people require at least 6 sessions of laser hair removal, with sessions being 6 weeks apart.
If you haven’t got one already, a good wedding skin care regime should be underway. This means appropriate cosmeceuticals tailored to your skin and your concerns.
We can assist in selecting the most appropriate products to use to complement your treatments and your skin type. Our dermal therapists provide a free skin analysis at your first appointment which includes advice on a personalised wedding skin care regime to suit your skin type and concerns.
6 months prior
If you plan on having cosmetic injections for a ‘wrinkle free’ face and you have not had them in the past this is the time to trial it.
Botulinum toxin will last anywhere up to 3-6 months. Trialling the effects 6 months out means there is time to fine tune the results for you to achieve a natural and fresh look on your special day.
If you have concerns with acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, or just want a general ‘plump-up’ skin needling is a perfect treatment to have prior to your wedding. Here at Geelong Veins, Skin and Laser we use the Dermapen device and recommend to have a course of three treatments at 6-week intervals to gain the best results.
4 months prior
For those who have concerns with pigmentation, uneven skin tone, rosacea or broken capillaries, we can treat these with one of our many lasers. As these treatments require normally a minimum of three treatments at 4-week intervals, 4 months out from the big day will allow us to treat these concerns adequately.
3 months prior
Now is the time for ‘plumping’ and ‘volume’. Book in with our Cosmetic Nurse Injector now for volume and shaping treatments.
6 weeks prior
Wrinkle treatments should be done now in order to ensure you get the full benefit and will allow for any required ‘top-ups’ prior to the day. At this stage, any required volume treatments should be ‘topped up’ as well.
4 weeks prior
Now is the best time to check on the results of your wrinkle treatments and have a microdermabrasion or facial.
At this stage, you don’t want to do anything too invasive in order to have your skin looking amazing on your day.
2 weeks prior
A simple treatment such as a light peel and a good exfoliation.
1 week before your wedding.
LED and a hydrating facial.
The three other important things to consider when talking about good skin health are:
- Stay hydrated
- Healthy diet
- Exercise
We would love for you to come in and have a chat with either our Dermal Therapist or Cosmetic Nurse Injector to devise a plan to have you looking and feeling your best on your wedding day. We will work with you, within your budget, to help you achieve your skin goals
